THE BRACKEN COUNTY NEWS, Thurs., April 5, 2012 - 5 Chatham Christian Church  Church Mouse Happy and blessed Easter to everyone! On this Palm Sun., Apr. 1, we had 75 to SS and 136 to worship service. PRESBYTERIAN POTPOURRI by Les Grooms, pastor Augusta Presbyterian We had 52 in attendance for worship. Kay Grooms was the liturgist. Susie Hargett led the singing. Jill Hargett did the power point. We led off Sunday with Bible Study. Seven were present for the second session of second Corinthians. Paul’s two letters to the church at Corinth are filled with a lot of information and guidance that is applicable to us today. Sunday was Palm Sunday and my message was the traditional one for Palm Sunday. Jesus is making his triumphant entry into Jerusalem knowing that he was facing the cross. Sara Bush baked the special unleavened bread that was served. Larry England and Barbara Nickoson served the communion elements, and Susie Hargett, accompanied by Margie Hill, sang the traditional hymn of Palm Sunday, “The Holy City.” Such a beautiful hymn and such a beautiful rendition of this sacred hymn. One could feel the presence of the Holy Spirit during the singing and the partaking of the elements of communion. We heard that Jerol Plummer was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital early Sunday morning and the preliminary news was that she had a stroke. Larry England, Jerol's brother, is slated to have tests on Monday morning. Earl Bush is getting better each day. We will have our last Lenten service this Wed., Apr. 4, in the Presbyterian Church. What a wonderful and precious time we have had this past Lenten season with the services in the churches. This past Wednesday we were guests in the St. Augustine Church. The food was furnished by the Parkview Restaurant and, as usual, they served a fine meal. Appreciation to Phil & Jenny. We will continue with our bread basket meal on Wed., Apr. 11. Come and enjoy food and fellowship with us. OAKLAND CHRISTIAN by Barbara Browning It’s always good to be in the Lord’s house. Whether you prepared or served food, sorted clothes or supplies, delivered lunches to those who worked with cleaning up, worked to help in the rebuilding of homes or donated hours of your time volunteering wherever needed, you were appreciated. Our church could not have provided for the needs of our community during this disaster had it not been for our surrounding neighbors, friends and church families. Every time that we thought we didn’t have enough food to serve or workers to work .. GOD PROVIDED! We would also like to thank all the businesses that donated equipment and materials to help in the rebuilding of our community. Thank you to everyone who made monetary donations to our church. We are working on getting all of the donations out to the tornado victims in our community. May God richly bless you for all that you have done for our community and for your kindness to those affected by this tornado. “For we are laborers together with God.” 1 Corinthians 3:9 In Christian Love, 2nd 12 Mile Baptist Church 4-5-x
